I've gotten into a nasty habit of staying up till 3am and sleeping till noon or 1pm.
I'm a full-time student so it hasn't conflicted with my personal schedule, but I am tired of not living my life during regular hours.
Any advice on how to get sleepy at a reasonable hour? It's almost impossible to get out of bed in the mornings when I'm up so late and I need to change my routine. Please help!!Sleep problems...advice welcomed....?
it takes strength, patience, and determination..willpower.
i deal with the same thing, but i don't know if i have the same type of insomnia as you. mine is the more rare form...which is why i'm up at 3:30 am.
it takes two weeks of bootcamping yourself to make yourself stay awake during the day. let the sunshine in. stay busy, no matter how it is.
i recently spent an entire year in bed. imagine how that feels..having eating, sleep cycles disturbed to the max. i'm working on this myself. it's a matter of beating the clock.
if i can do this, you can.
try to avoid drugs, but if you must, take a tylenol pm. the base ingredient in that to make your sleepy is Benedryl. look at the drug label and you'll see..
benedryl and two tylenol has the same effect, exactly.
good luck to you, and wish me luck as well.
it's hard to function (understatement) when you're so tired, and your perceptions are thrown off. remember, it's simple even if it's difficult. it's all about beating the clock.Sleep problems...advice welcomed....?
What I do in that case is take a melatonin about an hour before I'd like to be in bed, and got to bed when that time comes. This will help move your cycle to where you want it. Melatonin will only have a drastic sleep inducing effect the fist time you use it, and if you use it the next day, it won't knock you out, but it will still be changing your cycle.
I have tried teas etc the more I try and go to sleep the more I cannot! I am a night owl and always will be. I chose all my classes to be afternoon ones and I have a very flexible work schedule where unless special circumstances warrant no body ever expects me before noon!
It makes me crazy that I cannot function until at least noon! I think I am just lazy, but a nice friend said I may be depressed and need some vitamins! Either way I am a vampire!
if u want to solve your problem u must have a schedule in which u must note your daily activities and then u will be able to control the the time u go to bed.
you must have determination and confidence in you to change your habit of sleeping late at night.
let me tell u how to do it.
firstly go to bed at 23 00 .u will sleep approximately 8-10 hours then u would wake up at 09 00 and if u can not do so
go to dont sleep a day then the next day you will feel very sleepy then u go to bed early and thus u may wake up early in the morning and laed a normal life instead of being like a owl,*(sorry 4 expression)
my best advice is to stay up around the clock for what may work out to be one 34 hour day.---- noon til 10 the next night.
(its less difficult than you may think -- you just have to pace yourself) caffeine comes in pill form too!!. you dont have to guzzle ten jumbo coffees .
each 100 mg';WAKE UPS'; pill (the one with the rooster on the bottle) is one jumbo coffee.. time the last caffeine pill four to six hours before your bed time.
then if there really is anything on tv keeping you up just record it and watch it when YOU WANT TO
-listen classical music, you can use online radios
http://www.shoutcast.com/genre/Classical
-make a lukewarm shower before sleeping
-try to schedule for early hours of the morning. For example, go shopping early, make appointments with profs, doctors, etc at 8-9.
- go to public library and read books about sleep disorders or search at bookstore
Well when my sleep schedule gets messed up; I usually pull an all nighter and go to bed at a reasonable time on the following evening, but this way you would have to have enough discipline to stay awake.
You could always take a sleeping aid too once to put you back on track just don't make a habit of it.
That's the same problem I have!
I used to be a stay at home wife several months ago, so I would literally stay up all night and then sleep at like 7am when my husband gets up to go to work! Then I'd sleep from 7am to like 5pm! I'm better now, but still I sleep really late and wake up late. I'd like a normal schedule too!
I have this problem too, mostly when we get breaks.
I would suggest getting up early the next morning and keep yourself busy that whole day,
do this for a week or two
maybe you can get into a nice sleeping routine again ;)
good luck!
you sleep late cause you woke up late
so if you sleep early one day just close the lights close you eyes and try to sleep so in the morning you will wake up early and it would be EASY to sleep early.
i had the same problem
Your sleeping schedule is off track. My son got this way. My doctor said for him to take benedryrl for several nights. It is safe enough for a small child and he sleeping schedule changed from 12 to 11a to 8p to 7a.

try waking up%26amp;starting ur day up early.. even when you go to sleep at 3 am..then as soon as you get home you will be very tired and will fall asleep earlier; do that a couple of times until you get used to it
its good to sleep at 8:00pm and drink a nice hot milk with honey and its so nice u get to sleep really quickly that's what i do im a student~~
smoke a fat blunt and then go to your bed at a reasonable time. you'll be sleeping like a baby in no time
