I am flying out to Ohio in a few weeks, have managed to break my ankle in four places! Ouch! Throbbing nicely at present.
How is this going to effect my flight???Problems......advice needed ....?
Well sitting in one spot for an airplane flight tends to swell your ankles up in general. In your case with a broken ankle, you can probably expect that the swelling and pain will get worse with the flight. I'm not sure what kind of immobilization you have on it now, or if you had surgery, but ideally to keep swelling down try to keep your ankle immobilized, and keep your leg elevated to above the level of your heart. This may be difficult on an airplane but if there is room to accomodate this, it should help some.Problems......advice needed ....?
You need to ask your doctor about this one, but it may hurt after the flight cause when you break stuff like this I think they want you to keep it elevated. How long is your flight?
check with the airline, this could pose problems with your insurance and theirs, it would be awful if you got to the airport and they didn't let you fly, it would be awful if they didn't let you go full stop, good luck, and im sorry about your ankle
please see your doctor as any broken bone could possibly lead to a DVT and you are at more at risk when flying
