Aging Dog Problems, Advice?

I have a bordie collie/ german sheppard breed.

He is ten years old, he has had frequent ear infections resulting in a half paralysis of his face, possible leg tumor.

In the past month he has exhibited concerning behavior including loss of appetite, excess vomiting(once a day or two) and lethargic behavior, unfocused eyes, and just general unhappiness.

This is all in addition to his obvious old age symptoms of joint stress, increasing smelliness, and confusion.

Any dog owners have any advice for what may be troubling him with his past month symptoms?Aging Dog Problems, Advice?
I have a ten-year-old Great Pyrenees who I love with all my heart. He quit eating two weeks ago and the first thingI did was take him to the vet. He had a huge ringwworm on his back, and the vet gave meds for it. After a week of treatment he still wouldn't eat. Back to the vet we go. This time they took blood. The results are that he has lymphoma. They are giving him six months to a year. To say the least,

I am heartbroken. But when any dog stops eating, it is not a good sign. Please take this loving dog to the vet and find out what is wrong with him. Aging Dog Problems, Advice?
If he doesn't have an ear infection at present (which might cause some of these symptoms), I have to agree w/ the other poster who said it sounds like cancer. Leg tumor, facial paralysis, confusion, vomiting, smelly, unhappy... If he does have cancer, it sounds like it's spread, and spread pretty fast.

Take him to the vet, he sounds pretty miserable. If he has terminal cancer, you can make a decision about euthanasia, or at least some pain and nausea control.

Good luck, wish I could be more help...

My advice is to go to your vet. The symptoms you describe could be caused by pain, kidney failure, liver failure, heart failure, metastatic cancer, or a number of other ailments. Only a vet could tell you for sure after doing a physical exam and bloodwork (and possibly x-rays to check for cardiac enlargement and/or cancer nodules in the chest). Depending on what your vet finds, there may be medications or supplements that would make your dog much more comfortable or it may be time for you to make the decision to let him go.
Please get your dog to a vet as soon as possible. You obviously love him, otherwise you wouldn't be asking for help, but unfortunately, even if there was a fully qualified vet on here, they would not be able to help you much. Your dog needs to be examined.

I would think it very unlikely that the past months symptoms all be down to just old age in such a dog, but the longer you leave it without a vets attention, the less chance you will give the vet of being able to help him.

Never feel bad about making hard decisions.....do what is in the best interest of your dog and right this moment....that is taking him to the vet.

Good luck and I hope he gets better.
What does the vet say? People on here don't really know. The dog needs to be examined in person. A ten year old dog is not very old, even for a large breed (unless its a Great Dane). I have had ten year old shepherds that were in excellent health and able to hike all over the mountains.

It sounds to me, but this is just speculation, like the dog might have some kind of cancer. That would explain the loss of appetite, lethargy, and vomiting. But I am just guessing, you need a vet to examine your dog.

Are you kidding me? How long did your dog go with ear infections for him to be Paralyized?

You seem to be neglecting him. Either take care of the problems at hand by seeing the VET and treating him, or give him up.

There is no reason for your dog to be doing this except a neglectful owner....

This dog needs the vet without delay!! There's no reason on earth for a dog who's only 10 years old to be having any of these symptoms. Senior dogs are even more deserving than others of their owners help - and long before they have a lot of problems. Please get this poor dog some help.
i would say he is just getting old and when most dogs get old then encounter more problems my dog also had some of these problems I'm sorry but i think you should put him down that's what we did you dont want him to be living a painful life
have u taken him to a vet? if not then take him to a vet immediately... then make sure he gets a lot of exercise.

good luck... ps... german Shepard's are highly intelligent
