This is a very distressing situation, I know. Same thing recently happened to my sister. In her case, it was roots blocking drainage pipes in her yard and Roto-Rooter corrected the problem (temporarily------in many cases the roots will eventually grow back). There is almost certainly some sort of blockage in the drain from washer, so that it just cannot handle a large amount of outflow all at once.
I believe there are products you can use yourself to attempt to remedy this situation, but it's not a good idea to try this without some kind of advice from a knowledgeable source. Try going to a Home Depot or Lowe's and see if someone there can give you some good free advice. You might also try looking at a book like ';Home Repair for Dummies'; or that type of thing.
Good luck!
okay well more than likely you have a clog or restriction in your sewer line there. If you have City sewer and not septic then....If you have a city clean out, call the city to come snake from the clean out to the street. They will generally do this for free as it is their property. If that does not work, you can purchase a snake from a home improvement store of varying sizes and degrees and attempt to snake it yourself. Go to the fixture that is closest to where you sewer leaves the house: toilet, shower, drain, etc and snake from there out as far as you can or snake permits. And see what happens !Now when I had this problem due to roots in my line I had to pay a plumber $120 to come out on a saturday to snake my line and he had to remove the toilet. Thats not too bad for Sat service. You can also look in your paper for a handyman - I am willing you could get one to come out for about $50 to do this for you too. Good luck.
This happened to my neighbor because her sewer line to her washer connected to the main through the bathroom. Here are some suggestions. Try pouring a cup of baking soda down the drain to the bathtub followed by a cup of hot white vinegar. This will clean the pipe of body oils and soap scum which could be clogging the line. You can test whether it cleared the line by adding a gallon or two of water to the washer drum and setting the cycle to drain the drum. Watch to see whether the water starts to come up in the tub and stop the washer immediately if it does.
If you suspect that there are roots that have grown into your sewer pipe causing the blockage, head to the home improvement store. In the plumbing section they sell a product that you pour into the drain of the tub and down the toilet that will dissolve the roots. After treatment, test again to be sure the line is clear as mentioned above. If this doesn't work, you have done all you can and it is time for the plumber.
Obviously something is stopped up somewhere, you might try some rid-x see if that helps.
This happend to me in our first house. I will tell you now, dont wait too long. We had roots in our line out. Our toilet and tub EXPLODED! It was NASTY. we ended up replacing the linoleum in the bathroom and the carpet in the hall. we had a local plummer remove the roots and we had to keep pouring rid-x down the toilet every three flushes. It was only about $125 for the plummer to come out. Dont wait.
I have no idea...but you should check the tube (where the water comes out of the washer ) and make sure there is nothing stuck in it and it's clean...I have no idea if that will work, I'm just guessing
