Moving to spain next year. want to take my car with me, will i have any problems? advice wellcome.?

1. it will cost about 650 to? depends on the age %26amp; value of car


new car very expencive old car say 10 years on 850 to 650 engine size is considerd too.


2. then you have to get a report on the car ( no toe bars are allowed now no bull bars are allowed now and if it has allows not gen then sorry not allowed!)


all in all it will cost about with reports papers and getting some one to help about 1000 euros?

For a British registered car to be legal in Spain it must be legal in Britain ( i.e. have a current tax disc, MOT and insurance).


Therefore for you to keep it any length of time in Spain you need to keep it taxed and MOT valid in Britain which could prove expensive in taking it back to the UK for MOT etc.


There are lots of companies willing to insure UK registerd cars in Spain .





You can re-register it in Spain and get a Spanish number plate but this has to be done through a solicitor(gestoria) and costs about 500 euros.

Might be best to sell your car here and just buy a new one when you get to Spain.





Shipping and taxes can be extremely expensive and stressful.

You can take it over there on you insurance but you will have to change it over there,


It would be better to sell you car and buy a new one as they drive on the other side of the road so the driver needs to be on the left side.
If it's an American made car your not going to be able to afford gas so you should just sell it and use the money made to buy a bus and train fare.
Apart from the steering wheel being on the wrong side you will be an easy visible target for the car crooks who prey on UK number plated cars as soft touches (after money, cameras, c/cards gifts etc. left in ';tourist'; cars).





OK you will not have to pay local road tax etc but if you also don't properly insure the car you could have a accident and really be in trouble with local police who will sling the book at you.





Remember we don't like illegal immigrants here, that's what you would be in Spain, they don't like it either! Bad decision!
well you will be able to take your car but you will have to go by boat because you cant take your car on a plane!!!!!!!lol!!!! also it depends where you are going i mean mayorka or alicante santa pola etc if your going to alicante you can go through france i hope ive answered your question and thats what i did
